BBQ at the beach and Good Byes

Sunday 22nd - 23rd of June

After my unwanted long sleep I walked to "my flat" and took a shower. After that we had brunch like in old times in the flat of Ole and Hauke. With pancakes, of course. Since we only had two days in Sweden, and only this one with all together, we planned a bbq at a beach next to the sea. We bought a huge amount of meat and drove with two cars a few kilometer south of Sundsvall. The beach we chose was nice and empty. You could walk very far into the sea there. Like in my old holidays. It was an amazing feeling to stand that far in sea only hearing the sound of the water and the birds.
Although it started to rain a little bit in between, the weather remained reliable and dry most of the time, but we did not really see sun anymore. So we grilled the (a lot!) meat, played frisbee and had funny time. After the meat was eaten, we made a big camp fire in the sand and waited until all the wood has been burned. That was a Midsommar event like I had imagined - even if it was not Midsommar anymore. Because it did not become dark, we did not really know how we stayed. The evening we had a sit-in at Ole's place again.
The night was short. Very short. After only 2 hours of sleep we had to say Stefan good bye. After another 2 or 3 hours we had breakfast with Christian and brought him to the train station, too. The rest of the day we played the memory game I got from the exchange students as a present when I left Sundsvall in February. Maritha, Ole and I drove also to Södra Berget for a walk, but the weather changed to rain, so we only enjoyed the view over the area for a while. Back in Nacksta the weather turned again to sunshine after one hour, so Marlies, Maritha, Ole and I made a walk through the Nacksta woods. The evening ended with a sit-in again. The night was meant to be short again, because our train was leaving at quarter past 6 in the morning.

Mijn nederlandse week (deel 2)

I skipped work on Friday. I would have been the only one at work and I had already finished every lonely job the week before when my supervisor has been sick. I made some shopping and recovered in bed from Queensday. In the evening I went out with Ulrich. In the third pub we met two friends of him and continued with them our pub tour. I finally get to know the locations. It is quite embarrasing. As Ulrich kept asking me "What have you done all the years, if you do not know these pubs?", I really asked myself how I could have missed the basics. Well, I never has been in Aachen in the weekends and during the week I studied. Two sides. The combination of both started in Sweden. But now I even have an idea what to show people who would come for a visit to Aachen (just call me). While I've been in the Netherlands my bike has been brought to Aachen. Finally. I was planning this since the first week I got to Aachen 4 years ago, but I always wanted to keep the bike at my parents ...

I'm not an addict - am I?

My first month as full time employee is over and things are going pretty well. Work is currently quite easy going. I have time to improve things. Most likely it will be worthless when the think-tanks behind the projects create new requirements, but that's ok, because I now get salary. The freshly graduated students I know all go the same prestige-track: first they buy a new computer. I did it, too, for my old one was barely working since I drowned it once during a legen-dary story (Hälsningar till Mainz, lil åpa). Considering the law of freshly graduated students a flat television in a minimum size of 60" will follow, right after a new by-far-too-expensive car and right before the super-duper dolby soround audio system with playstation 3 which gets lost in the living hall of my new huge single-appartment. I - dont - think - so. Instead I asked for holidays and I hope to get a response, soon. If everything goes well, I will escape the summer for two weeks in July. As I said, wo...

Tour de Fryslân

These weeks are busy. Work is a mess of new requirements, but since there is a lot to do, there is a lot that can be solved, therefor motivation remains. But Friday evening my head still running on work-level. All the time I was looking for logic challenges, like I have to solve all the time at work. For getting rid of a busy head you can either relax and hope you come to rest... or you seek nice challenges. So I decided spontanuously to go to Dutch Friesland and Roden last weekend. The trip was not as easy as I thought in first place. First the car of my parents seemed to have some serious problems with one of the wheels. Therefore instead of being on my way to a Dutch tea with Stroopwafels I was hanging around in two car workshops. They could not find anything, but after they attached the wheels again, the problem was gone. Well, at least it was cheap. But I was already one hour later than I planned. Because I needed to go to Aken for dropping some stuff and picking some up, my time ...
