Erasmus Reunion in Brescia

It was only our third day but I already had lost the feeling for time. It was Saturday and we planned to drive to Brescia to meet with Ward, Silvia, Thomas and Carolina. The weather had changed. Because Maritha makes currently sure Nicaragua gets its yearly rain season, it was up to Ward to bring Dutch weather to Italy. And he did not spare a drop of rain. Especially on Saturday it rained a lot.
Totally wet Christian and I found the apartment where the others lived for the weekend. Later Marco & Marco joined. Because the appartment was to small for Christian and me to move in, too, we booked a room in a hostel outside Brescia. That also meant that I could not drink alcohol, because I had to drive. At night we met with a lot of erasmus students from Sundsvall in the city center of Brescia and went out for dinner. For those of you, who know the people: Luca, Andrea, Mathias, Valentina, Thomas, Ward, Silvia, Marco, Marco, Christian, Carolina and I. The dinner was ok, although this first-plate/second-plate is not really satisfying. It is more like you get a half meal with every plate, but you pay as much as for a complete meal.
After dinner we wanted to go to a club. The idea came up to go to a big party that happens only once per year. Exactly in this night. We drove there with some cars and to my luck, the party tent was next to our hostel, so I could finally join partying. Of course Christian and I left as last the party. The music was ok, the drinks strange, but it was so cool. I met even Andrea, an Italian boy who has been in Sundsvall in summer 2007. We were totally surprised to meet each other. In the following days we met accidentally in the city a few times, too.
After everybody else had left, Christian went home after 4 in the morning.

Mijn nederlandse week (deel 2)

I skipped work on Friday. I would have been the only one at work and I had already finished every lonely job the week before when my supervisor has been sick. I made some shopping and recovered in bed from Queensday. In the evening I went out with Ulrich. In the third pub we met two friends of him and continued with them our pub tour. I finally get to know the locations. It is quite embarrasing. As Ulrich kept asking me "What have you done all the years, if you do not know these pubs?", I really asked myself how I could have missed the basics. Well, I never has been in Aachen in the weekends and during the week I studied. Two sides. The combination of both started in Sweden. But now I even have an idea what to show people who would come for a visit to Aachen (just call me). While I've been in the Netherlands my bike has been brought to Aachen. Finally. I was planning this since the first week I got to Aachen 4 years ago, but I always wanted to keep the bike at my parents ...

I'm not an addict - am I?

My first month as full time employee is over and things are going pretty well. Work is currently quite easy going. I have time to improve things. Most likely it will be worthless when the think-tanks behind the projects create new requirements, but that's ok, because I now get salary. The freshly graduated students I know all go the same prestige-track: first they buy a new computer. I did it, too, for my old one was barely working since I drowned it once during a legen-dary story (Hälsningar till Mainz, lil åpa). Considering the law of freshly graduated students a flat television in a minimum size of 60" will follow, right after a new by-far-too-expensive car and right before the super-duper dolby soround audio system with playstation 3 which gets lost in the living hall of my new huge single-appartment. I - dont - think - so. Instead I asked for holidays and I hope to get a response, soon. If everything goes well, I will escape the summer for two weeks in July. As I said, wo...

MFG

I think, I had a first day that is usual for a first day in computer business. Of course, I was 20 mintues too late, because the village of the company was surprisingly bigger than one street and I ended up somewhere in nowhere. Luckily Micha could pick me up. What a start. Next getting a card at the entrance. I am not in the system, so I get a one-day entrance card. Maybe tomorrow I am already registered. Afterwards I met a lot of people, learned a lot of names. At Atos you call each other with the first name (not so usual for distance-loving Germany). And now I have an idea why they hired me. I think I met 50 people, but they had only 10 different names. Maybe they hire people because of their names. Almost everybody seems to be called Wolfgang, Peter, Stefan, Michael, and - of course - Markus. Getting to know a lot of people also means to learn about a lot of different projects. And a lot of technical terms I never heard of before. Until 12 my head was full of technical terms and cr...
