EILC 2008

In the end I want to publish something that might be of special interest for those who spend the EILC 2006 with me in Härnösand. Midsweden University officially has an EILC 2008 this year!! EILC stands for Erasmus Intensive Language Course. In 2007 Miun skipped it. The old EILC 2006 page is deleted and new site of this year's course is http://www.miun.se/eilc/. Looks quite similar to our starting page two years ago. Only Björn is now Johanna (check personal staff). And they could have at least published new pictures from Hans and Ella. The new course is going to start in 2 weeks. If I imagine I would have stayed in Sundsvall as first planned, I would welcome the EILC students on their Campus trip... funny. I had no idea when was at their place. But since I only linked my pictures at that time to Hans EILC page, I have to repair my articles from August 2006 now, because all pictures are lost, of course. Luckily I saved at least those from the blog somewhere. But does anyboday have all pictures from the EILC 2006? I know I had more than enough time, but somehow I did not download the complete galleries.
Since the weather will be bad anyway this weekend, I think I will view the old pictures again. Did not check them since long. So much has happened in between. I spent already my last weekend in old pictures making galleries on facebook about my first and second semester in Sundsvall. You can watch them here and here.

MFG

I think, I had a first day that is usual for a first day in computer business. Of course, I was 20 mintues too late, because the village of the company was surprisingly bigger than one street and I ended up somewhere in nowhere. Luckily Micha could pick me up. What a start. Next getting a card at the entrance. I am not in the system, so I get a one-day entrance card. Maybe tomorrow I am already registered. Afterwards I met a lot of people, learned a lot of names. At Atos you call each other with the first name (not so usual for distance-loving Germany). And now I have an idea why they hired me. I think I met 50 people, but they had only 10 different names. Maybe they hire people because of their names. Almost everybody seems to be called Wolfgang, Peter, Stefan, Michael, and - of course - Markus. Getting to know a lot of people also means to learn about a lot of different projects. And a lot of technical terms I never heard of before. Until 12 my head was full of technical terms and cr...

Piacenza, Parma and Castell Arquato

The night was interesting, because we did not have beds where we could sleep. I woke up several times at night, because owls or something were screaming from the roof of a nearby building. Once I woke up and scared a small dog that did not realize me up to the moment it stood next to me. It ran away. I wanted to whistle, but a mosquito had bit me in my lips, therefore I could not make a sound and scared the poor little creature maybe even more. Once it started to rain a little bit, so I moved my benches under a tree, but it did not rain anymore that night. Around 6 I felt very cold and could not sleep anymore. When I scared the first pedastrians away, I thought it is time to stand up. We felt bad. The day before had been so hot that our clothes were filthy of sweat. At least we had some water to wash ourselves a little bit. But we were longing for a shower. So we drove back to Piacenza hoing to find a tourist information who could explain us the detailed way to a hostel. Piacenza is a ...

Almost master

These are my final days as student, for the trip to Sundsvall was a success. When Ulrich (surprise-guest) and I arrived in Sundsvall on Friday evening, it was too warm for snow and the streets were clear. But during the presentation next morning, it started to snow. Since then I have been in a snowy winterland. The weekend was beautiful. I somehow passed the presentation, I just need to make some corrections. Because of holidays it will take until February until I can apply for the master degree - until I receive it, it may take weeks or even months of bureaucracy. Anyhow, it is nothing that needs much effort, but patience. Sundsvall is pretty much the same like last February. They reconstruct the outdoor swimming pool to a kind of adventure pool and the campus at the university gets a new building. I was able to do everything that I wanted to do: A lonely night walk on the tiny paths in the woods while it was snowing and visiting Norra Berget and Alnön again. Sandra and Ulli have th...
